Things got a bit closer in Elizabethton National Cal Ripken play on Tuesday at T.J. Burleson Memorial Field as Ole Barn Restaurant trimmed KFC 9-3 to tie for first place.
The win gives Ole Barn (14-4) the tiebreaker, however, going into next week’s tournament action.
First baseman Bart Wilson finished 3-for-3 for the Ole Barn. He had three doubles and he drove in five runs to help lead the attack, and Evan Perkins pitched four solid innings of relief in the victory.
“Perkins did a fantastic job,” said Ole Barn manager Justin Hensley. “Hayden didn’t have his best stuff today and his arm was a little sore. Evan came in and pitched great, and Bart Wilson’s three hits were huge.”
Both teams started their aces, but neither was around for long as both Hayden Holtsclaw and KFC’s John Wesley Hardin did not make it to the third inning.
