Mr. Tolson was born on June 30, 1934. He was a son of the late Thomas T. and Linnie Lawson Tolson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Cole and Betty Stover; and two brothers, Ben Tolson and Paul Tolson.
Mr. Tolson proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a heavy equipment operator, and was a member of the Smokey Mountain Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia, of the home; daughter, Sherilyn Joy Bacon, and husband Dana of Elizabethton; sons, Thomas Leroy Tolson and wife, Tonya, of Loma Linda, Calif., and Robert Wayne Tolson and wife, Mary, of Kodak, Tenn.; grandchildren, Geneve Treadway, Tiffany Bavardi, Valerie Breazeale, Grace Bacon, Robert Tolson, Casey Steich and Aaron Orick; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Judy Bivens of Pigeon Forge; and a cousin, Dorothy Story of Knoxville. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard.
