Sidney A. “Scotty” Crumley


Sidney A. “Scotty” Crumley, 70, of Elizabethton, passed away after a long battle with cancer, on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Crumley was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Dorothy Elizabeth Crumley Vance. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Lee Myers Crumley, and his mother-in-law, Thelma Myers.
Mr. Crumley was retired from the Department of Corrections. He was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mitzi Mottern and husband John “Mike,” Elizabethton; two brothers, Bill Crumley and Tommy Collins, both of Elizabethton; and two sisters, Sherry Foxx and husband Darrell and Linda Collins, all of Elizabethton. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Crumley will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Doug Hardin officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Smith Family and Danny Hilbert. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at the residence of his daughter, Mitzi Mottern, at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, in the Buckles Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be George Lilly, Skip McQueen, J. Harold Ray, Jerry Buckles, Dallas Pierce and Gerald Buckles. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Willow Springs Baptist Church and Ray Birchfield. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Willow Springs Baptist Church, 544 Willow Springs Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting and signing the guest book.
