Ruth Lipford Williams, 88, of Butler, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Pearl Walsh Lipford.
Ruth was a graduate of Watauga Academy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Williams, who died April 27, 1987, and a brother and sister-in-law, Buster and Margaret Peters Lipford.
She has one daughter, Sue Carol Ward, and son-in-law, Darrell Ward, one grandchild, Jamie Darrell, and wife, Heather Leigh Ward, and one great-grandchild, Haleigh Jean Ward; two nieces, Sherry Lynn, and husband, Russell Kyte, and their son, David Kyte, and his daughter, Taylor, and Glenda Pearl and husband, Wayne Treadway, and their son, William Glenn.
Ruth was a member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church, where she was an active member until this past year, working in the WMU, a choir member, a Sunday School teacher, working in Bible School, and always making chicken and dumplings for our meetings. She also sent many cards to the sick.
She was the Best Mom a person could have, and we are so proud of her. She would always say “Let’s pray about it.”

Private graveside services were held Tuesday, April 2, at Butler Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Koch and the Rev. Terry Ward officiating. Condolences to the Williams family may be e-mailed to email@example.com.
