Ross Markland

Ross Markland, 61, 129 Nave Street, Hampton, Tenn., died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Gurney Brownlow Markland and Iva Lee Hill Markland.
Mr. Markland was a landscaper. He enjoyed woodworking and loved being outdoors and riding around.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Eddie Markland, Hermon Markland, William Markland and Billy Markland, and a sister, Faye Campbell.
Survivors include his children, Shatona Mann and husband Terry, Tabbatha Markland, Allan Markland and Justin Markland, all of Hampton; his girlfriend of 25 years, Patty Dolan, Hampton; four grandchildren, Nevaeh Oaks, Roan Mountain, Anna Mann, Jose Mann and Juan Mann, all of the home; six sisters, Mary Parlier and husband Sonny, Elizabethton, Ida Jean Lyons, Roan Mountain, Lisa Wilson and husband Jack, Margaret Whitehead and husband Roger, Brenda Mayse and Kelly Reece and husband Cecil, all of Elizabethton; and two brothers, Robert Markland and wife Helen, Roan Mountain, and James Markland, Elizabethton. A special friend, Teresa Deloach, Elizabethton, and his driving buddy, Jack Johnson, Elizabethton, also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Markland will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, May 3, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Bill Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the funeral service, or at the residence at other times. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in the Moreland Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Jose Mann, Juan Mann, Terry Mann, Justin Markland, Eddie Parlier, Sony Parlier, Charles Mayse and Mark Reece. Everyone will meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services at 1 p.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
