Randy Dale Odom, 45, Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly July 3, 2013, at his residence.
Born in Avery County, N.C., he lived most of his life in Carter County.
He was a son of the late Roy Albert and Virgie Bell Johnson Odom and had an older brother, Richard Dean Odom.
He was a former Construction Worker.
Randy loved being with family and friends, enjoyed cooking and camping and loved his dogs, especially “Smokey” and “Little bit,” his new one.
Survivors include six sisters, Tonia Hughes, Johnson City, Deborah Whitehead, Sheila Nance and husband Donnie and Peggy Nance and husband David, all of Elizabethton, Sandy Gruhot and Kimberly Odom, both of Hampton; a brother, Roy Dean Hill, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, including one special great nephew, Kinley Whitehead. He loved all of them dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Street officiating.
Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in the Cranberry Cemetery, Elk Park, N.C.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Hilton, Doug Palmer, Kenneth Murphy, Ned Burton, Jose Hernendez and Glenn Hatley. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Whitehead, Brooks Simerly, Donnie Nance, David Nance and all his nephews, Chris and Shawn Hughes, Jerry Guinn, Josh Nave, Cory Nance and Tyler Cole.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
