Pauline W. Whitehead, 96, formerly of 1000 Smalling Road, Johnson City, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012, at Pine Ridge Care Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Ray Scott and Mae Pierce Wilson.
Mrs. Whitehead was a former employee of the Bemberg Corporation and was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde A. Whitehead; two sisters, Mary Ruth Range and Beatrice Wilson; and four brothers, Woodrow Wilson, Mark Wilson, Lefler Wilson and Crawford Wilson.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Whitehead, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Greg Whitehead, Columbus, Ga., Jonathan Whitehead and wife Beth, Charlotte, N.C., Tina English and husband Barry, Elizabethton, and Michael Morrell, Richmond, Va.; eight great-grandchildren, Thomas Whitehead and Whitney Whitehead, both of Columbus, Ga., and Aaron Clark, Alec Whitehead, Olivia Babb, Amber English, Melissa English and Megan English, all of Elizabethton; and four sisters, Gladys Treadway of Oregon, Eve Cunningham of Georgia, Virginia Smith and husband Robert, Knoxville, Tenn., and Myrna Arnett and husband Ray, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service for Mrs. Whitehead will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Brian Smith, Chaplain of Pine Ridge Care Center, officiating. Pallbearers will be John Walton, Alec Whitehead, Bobby Clark, Roy Dula, Tim Holt, Crystal Scott and Barry English. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to travel together in procession to the cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the home of her son, Thomas Whitehead, at 705 W. G Street, Elizabethton, at other times. The family would like to extend a very sincere and special thank you to the staff of Pine Ridge Care Center for the loving care given to Pauline during her illness, and to the many friends and neighbors that visited with Pauline.
