Paul Daniel Mayse, 66, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Mayse was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Hubert Lester and Mary Wagner Mayse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Hill and Flora Thorsteinsson, and three brothers, David Mayse, Robert Mayse and Charles Mayse.
Mr. Mayse was retired from Tennessee Chair Company and attended Prayer Tabernacle. He loved to fish, talk about the Bible and play horseshoes.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Mayse; five sisters, Margaret Calderon and husband Jose, Carolyn Martinez and husband Ricardo, Phyllis O’Grady and daughter, Mary Ann, Rebecca Mayse and Crystal Lingerfelt; one brother, Michael Mayse and wife Julie; three daughters, Kayla Mayse, Madison Mayse and Susie Danner; one step-son, Freddie Hill; a special friend, Mark Penny; a special nephew, Lester Reece; and a special niece, Maranda Thorsteinsson. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
The celebration of life for Mr. Mayse will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 21, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Kim Casey officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12:30 until 2 p.m., prior to the service on Thursday, or at the residence of his sister, Margaret, at 151 Jackson Avenue, or the home residence at 152 Jackson Avenue in Elizabethton at anytime. Music will be under the direction of Cleada and Everet Garland. The graveside service will follow in the Highland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jose Lopez, Mark Penny, Ricky DeLoach, Michael Danner, Jose Mayse, Allen Reece, Robbie Reece and William Reece.
