Mrs. Patty Honeycutt, 71, of Roan Mountain, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at her residence following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late A.C. and Beatrice Gaffin Griffin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Richard “Rick” Gerald Honeycutt, on July 8, 2006.
Mrs. Honeycutt was born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., but had lived in Carter County for 48 years. She was a homemaker and the secretary of the Open Bible Hour and Victory Baptist Church Bible Institute. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and served as the church organist. She loved to read, cook and especially spoil her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Reverend Jerry Honeycutt, of the home; two daughters and sons in law, Judy and Gary Carty, Wichita, Kansas, and Jeri Ann and Scott Moore, Charlotte, N.C.; one son and daughter in law, Joe and Amanda Honeycutt, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Leanna Williams and husband Rusty, Middleburg, Fla; Destiny Honeycutt, Elizabethton; Daniel Carty and wife Bonni, Kansas; Ethan Moore and Seth Moore, both of Charlotte, N.C.; eight great grandchildren, Dalton, Hunter and Briana Williams, Hannah, Elizabeth, Faith, Thomas and Nathaniel Carty; and two brothers, John Griffin, N.J., and Ray Griffin, Fla.
The celebration of life service for Mrs. Honeycutt will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012, at Victory Baptist Church in Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Tull Oaks and the Rev. Greg Thompson officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Honeycutt family. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Monte Vista Burial Park in Johnson City, with the Rev. Rusty Williams and the Rev. Gary Carty officiating. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Carty, Scott Moore, Mickey Honeycutt Jr., Eddie Guinn Jr., Toby Baldwin and Doug Heaton. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Moore, Seth Moore, Dalton Williams and Hunter Williams. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton to go in procession to the cemetery.
