Nadine Taylor Colbaugh, 74, died peacefully at her home on the evening of February 26, 2013.
Mrs. Colbaugh was born in Roda, Va., and was a lifelong resident of Elizabethton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert James and Helen Vance Taylor; a sister, Nancy Marie Taylor Campbell; and two infant brothers, Robert James Jr. and Williams Edward.
Mrs. Colbaugh is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Arliss Gale Colbaugh, and two daughters, Teresa Colbaugh Arnold with husband Patton Arnold, and Penny Colbaugh Erwin with husband Tim Erwin. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Tilly Erwin, Tiffany Erwin, Luke Arnold and Emily Arnold Chapman with husband Adam Chapman. She has several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews surviving as well as her special “sister in heart,” Lema Gay Cross and husband Harley.
Nadine trusted Jesus Christ as Savior when she was a young girl and served him faithfully in her home, community and church. She was an active member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethton where she sang in the choir and served as church clerk until her death. She retired from Raytheon Missile Systems Division in 1993, then enjoyed many years traveling with her husband and enjoying her grandchildren.
Nadine was blessed with many special friends, including the Unaka High School Class of 1956 and her church family.
A reception will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, with a funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Roger Hayley officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, in the Blevins Cemetery with the Rev. Talmadge Brown officiating. Music will be provided by the Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church Choir together with New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Choir and led by Todd Lowe. Special music will be provided by Dennis Laws. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Friday, will be Joey White, Dale Colbaugh, Richard Hardin, Randal Lewis, Waco Campbell, Perry Rambo and Frank Arnett. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Holder, Grady Holder, Ralph Patterson, Ronnie Patterson, Wayne Markland, Harold Dean Markland and Trustees and Deacons of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Colbaugh to the Blevins Cemetery Club, c/o Sofia Wilson, 237 Peters Hollow Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643; The Taylor Cemetery, c/o Hazel Ellis, 131 Laurel Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643; or to Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 1951, Elizabethton, TN 37644. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery.
