Michael Dan Nave, 62, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Golden U. and Mary Alva Potter Nave.
Mike was a 1969 graduate of Hampton High School. He was owner and operator of Elk Mills General Store. He was a member of Hampton Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Val Nave.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Guy Nave; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Christy Nave, Hampton, and Phil and Amy Nave, Elizabethton; three sisters, Norma Sue Nave and Joan Elliott, both of Elizabethton, and Diana Cato, Florence, S.C.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Judy Nave and Carl and Pat Nave, all of Elizabethton; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Christine Guy and Richard Guy, all of Butler, Gladys Guy, Sugar Grove, N.C., Jean Guy and Roy Harmon, both of Hudson, N.C.; his special sister-in-law, Sylvia Potter, Hudson, N.C.; his special nephew, Mitchell Nave, Butler; his special niece, Shelby Bunten, Sugar Grove, N.C.; a special nephew and niece, Scott and Cindy Potter, Hudson, N.C.; and a special great-niece, Cassandra Hatley. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Nave will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at noon Friday, August 16, in the Trivette Cemetery, Butler. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 11:50 a.m. Friday, will be Scott Potter, Tony Guy, Todd Guy, Hal Nave, Mitchell Nave and Jerry Bowers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Potter, Stan Whaley, Boyd Trivette, Tom and Natalie Smith, Tom Morgan, Tyler Minton, John Feathers, Conley and Sue Gentry, Osler and Vivian Feathers, Mark and Karen Nave, Dyrl and Linda Greene, Ty and Zack Potter, Gary and Lisa Potter and all customers of Elk Mills General Store. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence.
