Marcus J. Asher

Marcus Jason Asher, 39, spent his first Christmas in heaven, having passed away unexpectedly at his residence on December 23, 2012.
He was the beloved son of Mike and Bertha Asher and Tommy and JoAnn Campbell. He was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church. He was born and raised in the mountains he loved in Carter County. As a young man he loved to be outdoors, hiking and riding his motorcycle. He was an avid biker, having ridden since the age of six, when his Dad bought him his first dirt bike.
He married at the age of 27 to Tammy Kennedy Asher, who was his loving wife and best friend to the end. He was so excited at the birth of his only son, Austin, that he carried him around the hospital floor, allowing the rest of the family just a glimpse of his precious boy. The nurses had to get him to release him to them so they could tend to him. He loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father and son. He loved to laugh and found humor in many things. He loved to be helpful. He was at his best when he was helping someone, whether it was opening his home to someone in need, fixing someone’s car, working on Aunt Deb’s furnace or even hanging Christmas lights like he did for me, his Mother and his Aunt Hope. He lovingly cared for his uncle David during his illness and the death of his wife, Marie. He took time to share his faith with those who were confused and needed a little reassurance. He had struggles in his life as many know but he never lost his concern for his family and those he loved. His trials are over as the Lord has set him free by taking him to be with him in Heaven. The name Jason means healer, and so, if his passing can help someone else with their struggles, it will have not been in vain.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Billy Joe Asher; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Frances Huskins; and his uncle, Lester Huskins.
Survivors include his Mother, JoAnn Campbell and husband Tommy, Elizabethton; his Father, Michael Asher and wife Bertha, Elizabethton; his wife, Tammy Asher, of the home; his son, Austin, of the home; his grandmother, Bernice Asher, Elizabethton; one step-sister, Penny Campbell, Nashville; one step-brother, Mike Hubbard and wife Laryssa, Elizabethton; one brother-in-law, Gary Kennedy and wife Jenny, Sulphur Springs; one sister-in-law, Angela Kennedy, Gray; god sisters, Jennifer and Sarah Berry; a special friend, Curtis Jenkins; a nephew, Hayden Kennedy; nieces, Emma Kennedy and Darby Dunford; and his in-laws, Austin and Judy Kennedy.
