Lori Ann “Oot” Bowers, 42, of Roan Mountain, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Bowers was a native of Carter County and a 1989 graduate of Elizabethton High School. Until her illness, she had been the manager of several convenience stores. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Blaine Carden.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Ray Bowers; a daughter, Breanna Ray Franklin and husband Joey, Roan Mountain; her mother, Georgia Adkins Carden, Roan Mountain; a brother, Ricky Adkins and wife Vickie, Elizabethton; a sister, Tammie Carden, Elizabethton; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Verl and Mae Bowers, Roan Mountain.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bowers will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bud Malone and the Rev. Carroll Hayworth officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, in the Lacey Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Specialty Select Hospital, Bristol. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at her residence or at the residence of her brother, Ricky Adkins, Elizabethton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Condolences to the Bowers family may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
