Lester J. Dove, 85, of Orlando, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born in Walhalla, S.C., and was the son of the late Marcus and Margarette Dorn Dove. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Perry Dove on Aug. 14, 2001.
Mr. Dove was a retired carpenter and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida. He was a Mason, Scottish Rite and a Shriner in the Bahia Temple. Mr. Dove was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in World War II at Imo Jima, with honors.
Survivors include one daughter, Deanna Dove–Isaac and husband Ike, Orlando, Fla.; one son, Tom Dove and friend Sandra White, Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Dove will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in the Rhododendron Chapel at Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Mr. Ike Isaac, officiating. A eulogy will be provided by Gerry Perry Rinderer. Music will be under the direction of Deanna Isaac. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m.– 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service.
The graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Perry Cemetery, in the Upper Shell Creek Community of Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
