He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Samuel Auther and Anna Mae Morris Range.
Mr. Range was the owner and operator of Range Auctions and Real Estate Company, which he thoroughly loved and enjoyed. He was a Sgt. First Class in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Range attended First Christian Church in Elizabethton.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Courtney Range, Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Aileen Early, Morristown; a brother-in-law, M.R. Courtney and wife Carol, Whitesburg; six nieces and nephews; one great-niece and one great-nephew; special adopted grandchildren, Bonnie Buckles, Elizabethton, and Jenny Taylor, Johnson City; and special friend, Mac Merritt, Elizabethton.
The Celebration of Life service for Mr. Range will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 5, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Brent Nidiffer officiating. Music will be under the direction of Darlene Taylor. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be conducted following the service Friday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Steve Dunlap, Mac Merritt, Carl Taylor and Travis Hurley. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Range.
