Kathryn E. “Kathy” Baumgardner, age 39, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Fort Knox, Ky., a daughter of Lester Birchfield Jr. and Donna Baird Birchfield. She was preceded in death by her step-daddy, Bobby Sanders; grandfather, the Rev. Clarence E. Wilson; grandmother, Ann Baird; and step-brother, Jaime Sanders.
Mrs. Baumgardner enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies, going to yard sales, photography and volunteer work.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband of 22 years, Jonathan Baumgardner, of the home; daughters, Racheal Jenkins and husband Roy, and Nicole Baumgardner; sons, Andrew Baumgardner and wife Haley, and Devon Baumgardner all of Elizabethton; “adopted son,” Daniel Gardner of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Roy “Jr.” Jenkins, Gabriel “Gabe” Teaster; and grandmother, Hattie L. Wilson.
A celebration of Mrs. Baumgardner’s life will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Tetrick Funeral Home with Pastor Tyler Eiland and the Rev. Josh Baumgardner officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, in Baumgardner Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Baumgardner, Daniel Gardner, Randy Wilson, Shane Craig, Jerry “Stoney” Stonecipher and Billy “Peanut” Hilton. Honorary pallbearers Roy Jenkins, Bud Baumgardner, Jean Baumgardner, Roy Jenkins Jr., Gabriel Teaster and Devon Baumgardner. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home, to go in procession to the cemetery
