John Paul Price, 60, of Jonesborough, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Born in Kingsport, he had lived in several different locations.
Mr. Price attended Unaka High School, Elizabethton, for three years and graduated from Sullivan Central High School, Blountville. He attended Suffolk County Community College in New York and received a degree from the University of California at Berkley.
John was involved in Historic Restoration in Jonesborough over many years and was well known for his works of Limestone. To preserve the Mountain Art of broom making, John became certified in this craft and taught many others the process.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Gerald Price, a former Pastor of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church, Elizabethton; his brother, Timothy; and a sister, Elizabeth Anne.
Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Lois Jervis Price; his sister, Rebecca Grindstaff; his brothers, Gerald and Robert; his nephews, Nick Grindstaff and Joshua Price; his nieces, Leah Daily and Greta Price; and his great-nephews, Henry Daily, Daniel and Dylan Grindstaff.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 23, at the residence of his mother, Elizabeth Price, 505 Woodhaven Drive, Johnson City. It was his wish to be cremated. Condolences to the Price family may be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
