Joan Oakley

Joan Luther Oakley, 78, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, November 26, 2012, in  Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton.
She was a native of Thomasville, N.C.. but had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a daughter of the late, Herbert L. and Maude Carter Luther.
Mrs. Oakley was a retired registered nurse and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include one son, John Edward Oakley and his wife, Jane of Elizabethton; one daughter, Nancy Caroline Oakley of Johnson City; two sisters, Caroline Lockett of Johnson City and Helen Ottinger of Elizabethton; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Oakley and Olivia Oakley, both of Elizabethton; three nieces, Linda, Lucy and Kimberly; one nephew, Chris; seven great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church Chapel.  The family will receive friends at the church in the parlor from 3 to 4 p.m.
