He was the son of the late Earl and Burlen Lyons Morris and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Mary Lyons.
Mr. Morris was a retired sheet metal worker and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda Carr Morris, of the home; two sons, Jimmy Dale Morris and David Lynn Morris and his wife, Kim, all of the home; a daughter, Donna Sue Trinkle and her husband, Eddie, Bluff City; five grandchildren, Savannah Sue Trinkle, Cody Trinkle, Tasha (Morris) Johnson and Victoria Morris, all of Bluff City, and Justin Morris, Bristol; a sister, Mary Lunceford, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service for Mr. Morris will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Frank Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. Honorary pallbearers will be Crockett Johnson, James Osborne, Dallas Sams, Kevin Morrell, Bubby White, Ricky Malone, Dwayne Nance and Eddie Trinkle.
