Jerry Michael Reynolds, 65, of Johnson City, passed away November 15, 2012, at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.
Jerry was born in Elizabethton on May 14, 1947, a son of the late William E. “Bill” and Maxie M. Reynolds. He was a 1966 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Following his service, he attended and graduated from Herman Robinson Vocational Technical School, where he earned a diploma in architectural drafting. He worked for many years at Hanley Structures in Elizabethton and Automated Building Systems in Johnson City.
Other than his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William E. Reynolds Sr. and Hattie Mae Whited Reynolds; his maternal grandparents, Sam W. Massengill Sr. and Lillie Greenway Massengill; and his brother-in-law, Jerry M. Campbell.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Judy H. Reynolds, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Jordan Fenner, of Johnson City; a sister, Jean Campbell, of Johnson City; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Lisa Reynolds, of Kingsport; an uncle, John Parlier, of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews, Jennifer Davis, Sarah Campbell, Ronnie Pierson, Jamey Pierson, Jessica Lasiter, and Lucian Hodges. Several cousins, great nieces, and great nephews also survive, as well as two special pets, Jasper and Jolene.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2012, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway Percy Funeral and Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Lon Tobin of Otterbein United Methodist Church officiating. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Reynolds Cemetery in Elizabethton. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at Hathaway Percy Funeral and Cremation Services at 10 a.m. on Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff of the VA Medical Center and Holston Valley Medical Center for their care.
