Jenamae S. Lewis


Jenamae Smith Lewis, 81, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest E. and Nancy Peters Smith.
Mrs. Lewis was a 1949 graduate of Hampton High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Beck Mountain Baptist Church, where she taught the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class for many years.
Mrs. Lewis enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Lewis, January 7, 2009; five brothers, Hugh, Reece, John, Ted and Tom Smith; and four sisters, Kate Smith, Lillian Smith, Blonnie Nash and Wanda Griggs.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Johnny Hobbs; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Patsy Lewis; two grandchildren, Alex Lewis and wife Tiffanie and Keli Hobbs Campbell and husband Kenneth; and five great-grandchildren, Logan and Natalie Campbell, Tyler and Trentin Lewis and Austin Osborne. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 7, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell and Dr. Tommy Smith officiating. Music will be provided by the Rev. Ronnie Campbell. Entombment services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, February 8, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Alex Lewis, Kenneth Campbell, Wayne Clark, John Pierce, Eddie Sams, Mike Nash and Cameron “Buck” Gentry. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:20 p.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Johnny Hobbs, 2770 Siam Road, Elizabethton.
