Jared Taylor Lyon, 25, of Bluff City, Tenn., died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Jared was born in Bristol, Tenn., to Bret Allen and Kimberly Lee Vines Lyon. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jacqueline Vines, and his paternal grandparents, Robert T. and Martha E. Lyon.
Jared worked with his parents at Lyon Metal Roofing and was a member of Brookside Baptist Church in Bristol, Tenn. He was a graduate of Sullivan East High School and loved to play basketball, loved music, loved his friends and being with his brothers.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two brothers, Jonathan Tyler Lyon and Jace Allen Lyon, both of the home; a special sister, Edilia Ponce, Bluff City; his fiancée, Missy Stone, Bluff City; his maternal grandfather, Otis Vines, Hampton; three aunts, Melissa Crabtree and Linda Berry, both of Hampton, and Carolyn Jamerson, Bluff City; and an uncle, Jason T. Vines, Roan Mountain. Several other aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The Celebration of Life service for Jared will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Mike Nixon, Coach John Dyer and Jonathan Pierce providing a eulogy. Music will be under the direction of Brookside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Thursday, or at the residence, 262 Sky-Wa-Mo Road, Bluff City, at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, in the Sunrise Cemetery, 700 Dry Branch Road, Bluff City. Active pallbearers will be James Jones II, Chad Miller, Dusty Craig, Billy Deeb, Tyler Lyon, Jonathan Pierce, Nathaniel Pierce and Avi McCallister. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Tri-State Baptist Children’s Home, 1792 Vance Tank Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
