Janet “Jan” Potter Peters, 62, Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 15, 2013, in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Lewisburg, W. Va.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Russell M. and Hazel Trivette Potter.

Jan was a 1968 graduate of Hampton High School. She was owner of Magic Moments Wedding Center and Wedding Chapel and along with her husband operated Barnes-Boring Hardware. She was a member of Meadow View Baptist Church, Butler.

Survivors include her husband, Ed Peters; a daughter and son-in-law, Marina and David Robinson, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kim Sams, Elizabethton;  two granddaughters, Brittany Robinson and Kaeli Sams;  two step-grandchildren; Savanna Blevins and Colbey Britt; a brother, Aaron Potter, Elizabethton;  a sister and brother-in-law, Lavonia & Raymond Austin of West Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Evelyn Elmer.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Jones, the Rev. Mark Potter, and the Rev. Ray Greene officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at  2 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, in the Bunton Family Cemetery, Buntontown Community.  Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:50 p.m. Friday will be Mike Potter, Dale Potter, David Sneyd, Leon Humphrey, David Robinson, Aaron Potter and Jeff Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her many friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence.  Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:50 p.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
