James Gibson Jr.


“Dear God Be Good to Me,” The Sea is so wide, My boat is so small.”
James Gibson Jr., 74, 124 Victory Lane, Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Franklin Woods Hospital in Johnson City, Tenn., of respiratory failure.
A native of Watauga, Tenn., he was the son of the late James and Mable Gibson.
Mr. Gibson was a master craftsman and once a member of the United States Coast Guard. To describe him in one word it would be “PROUD.”
He was preceded in death by the one and only love of his life, his wife Violet. Now they shall truly be together for all eternity.
Mr. Gibson is survived by his daughter and son in-law, Robin and Charles Burleson of Cranberry, N.C.; his son and daughter in-law, James and Crystal Gibson of Clermont, Fla.; a brother, Billy Gibson of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Dallas Smith, Austin Burleson, Sumara Overbay and Wendy Gonzalas; and three great-grandchildren, Luis Diego, Martina Angelique and Nicolas Estebphen.
A memorial service for Mr. Gibson will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, January 18, at Fellowship Community Church in Watauga, Tenn., by Pastor Ken Hauser and music under the direction of Rick Sweeney.
