Irma W. Rains

Irma White Rains, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Pine Ridge Care Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew B. White Sr. and Verona Frazier White.
Irma was a 1961 graduate of Unaka High School and was retired as a cook at Keenburg Elementary School. She was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Herman E. Rains, June 1, 2013, and her father and mother-in-law, Jim and Leola Rains.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Audra and James Monroe, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Hannah Leigh Monroe; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte and W.C. Shelton and Claudette and John Salyer, all of Johnson City, Carolyn and Kenneth Colbaugh and Nora and Wayne Peters, all of Elizabethton; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Andrew B. White Jr. and Shirlene, Elizabethton, Paul and Angelee White, Gray, and John White, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews; and her special aunt, Dora White, Elizabethton.
The graveside service for Mrs. Rains will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 22, in the Colbaugh Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Colbaugh officiating. The Rev. Bryan Smith will offer a prayer at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Audra and James Monroe, Elizabethton. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff and employees of Pine Ridge Care Center and the staff and employees of Caris Hospice for the excellent care received.
