Helen N. Honeycutt


Helen Marie Lyon Honeycutt, of Hampton, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, at Pine Ridge Care Center where she had been a resident for the past seven years.
A native of Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Ethel Slagle Lyon.
Mrs. Honeycutt was a graduate of Bluff City High School. She was a former employee of SE Massengill of Bristol. She had lived in Gary, Ind., for 30 years where she had been employed at Color Lab.
Mrs. Honeycutt was a member of the Little Mountain Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harlan and Carl Lyon.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Robert Gene Honeycutt; a sister, Arvell Lyon Gardner and her husband Jack, Bluff City; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Melissa Gardner, Bluff City.
Funeral services for Mrs. Honeycutt will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chris Hughes and the Rev. Shane Waters officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Active pallbearers will be Mike Gardner, Phillip Stanley, John D. Snyder, Joe Street, Larry Caldwell and Johnny Honeycutt. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Pine Ridge Care Center, aids Barbara and Lois, and Caris Hospice. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
