Helen J. Morris, 74, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013, at her residence after an extended illness.  She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Robert T. and Golda Mae Sams Morris.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Moore; and a nephew, Tim Davis.


Miss Morris was an employee of S.H. Kress & Company until they closed and then retired from Ridgewood Barbecue Restaurant. She was a member of Borderview Christian Church and a graduate of Elizabethton High School.


Survivors include her sister, Marleen Davis of Elizabethton; brother, Bob Morris of Red Field, Ark.; several special nieces and nephews; and special great nieces and great nephews. Several aunts and an uncle also survive.


The funeral service for Miss Morris will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in the Chapel of Peace, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Kirk Langston, minister, officiating. Sydney Oliver will have a special reading. Music will be under the direction of Scott Reynolds and Ray Don Markland. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.


The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in the Mountain View Cemetery, Bluff City.  Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.


The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Miss Morris’ caregivers, Medi-Home and Hospice, she loved you all.
