Hazel M. Roberts


Hazel McKinney Roberts, 93, 3009 Upper Stone Mountain Road, Unicoi, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Sinkler and Lizzie Ellison McKinney.
Mrs. Roberts was a retired employee of Leon-Ferenbach. She was a Christian.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Ralph Roberts, who died November 7, 2010, and by five brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Steve Rainbolt, of the home, and Opal and Dale Stevens, Unicoi; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Donna Roberts, Unicoi; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mrs. Ronnie Yarber.
Funeral services for Mrs. Roberts will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Junior McKinney officiating. Music will be provided by the Sally Cove Creek Trio. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in the Buchanan Cemetery (Old Iron Mountain Road), Unicoi. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, will be her grandsons: James Roberts, Bobby Rainbolt, Travis Stevens, Morgan Stevens, Ben Sanders and Buddy Osborne. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Brian Nerren and Heather for the excellent care our mother received. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence.
