Fred D. Vines


Mr. Fred Dale Vines, age 54, of Hampton, Tenn., passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was the son of Virginia Mae Hoss Vines, Elizabethton, Tenn., and the late Fred H. Vines. Mr. Vines worked with Greg Mathes Waste Disposal and was a member of Union Baptist Church.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an aunt, Nancy Hoss, and his father-in-law, Jerry Lee Cross.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Sara Vines, of the home; two step-sons, Jeffery Cross, Elizabethton, Tenn. and Allen Norris, Johnson City, Tenn.; a step-daughter, Samantha Broome and husband Andrew, Colonial Heights, Tenn.; two sisters, Carolyn James and husband Jesse, Hampton, Tenn., and Karen Jaynes and husband Eddie, Piney Flats, Tenn.; and a brother, Kenneth Vines and wife Delores, Kingsport, Tenn. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and his best friend, Barney also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Fred Dale Vines will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the funeral service.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
