Frances Turner Smith, 91, Elizabethton passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late W.B. and Elizabeth Campbell Turner. She loved to crochet and loved crafts. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons: Lonnie Turner, September 22, 2006, Lawrence Turner, July 11, 2010 and an infant daughter Judy Smith, a grandson: Tommy Everett, two sisters: Sylvia Penley and Hildred Hubbard and two brothers: Bill and Robin Turner.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law: Lois Turner, Elizabethton; two granddaughters: Tammy Bowman, North Carolina and Roberta Turner of Texas; five great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Ed “Sonny” Vanover and family and a special friend: Nina Hill.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Gary Pate officiating. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to her first daughter-in-law and her husband Cornelia and Walter Everette, Sonya Guinn, Lorna Taylor, the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Caris Hospice for the excellent care Mrs. Smith received. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime Monday. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to email@example.com.
