Elmer Taylor, 70, of Elizabethton, Tenn., died Monday, April 22, 2013, at his residence, following a brief illness.
He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Dorothy Taylor Donaldson. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Ann Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a retired welder and a United States Army Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Gretchen Taylor, of the home; two daughters, Kimberly Johnson and Karen Taylor-Newton and husband Melvin; two sons, Steven Taylor and Brian Taylor and wife Christi; nine grandchildren, Brandan, Sydney, Hannah, Brenden, Cameron, Donnovan, Nicholas, T.J. and Wesley; and a favorite aunt, Freddie B. Several cousins, nephews and nieces also survive.
The memorial service for Mr. Taylor will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Brother Robert Manning officiating.
