Ella Mae Bowers

Ella Mae Myers Bowers, 90, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James and Almeada Garland Myers.
Mrs. Bowers was a graduate of Unaka High School and attended East Tennessee State College. She was a retired employee of Citizens Bank after 40 years of service. She was a member and former Worthy Matron of Sycamore Chapter #163 Order of Eastern Star. She was also active in the Rainbow Girls.
Mrs. Bowers was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pat “Red” Bowers, April 7, 2012; three brothers, Arvel, Stanley and Guy Myers; and three sisters, Ada Crowe, Hazel Crumley and Clydia Crosswhite.
Survivors include two sons, Sonny Bowers and his wife Elaine, Pinehurst, N.C., and Tom “Yogi” Bowers, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Patricia, Sonny and Matt; one great-grandson, Curtis; a sister, Mabel Richardson, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Marcella Widener.
Private funeral services for family and caregivers will be conducted Sunday, December 23, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Donald B. Marshall, minister, officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and her caregivers for the excellent care she received during her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue, Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 207 N.
