Edward H. Morgan, 92, of Roan Mountain, passed away on April 18, 2013.
He was the son of the late Charles and Brucie Morgan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche, an infant daughter, Pasty Ann, a sister, Margaret Morgan and a brother, Frank Morgan.
Edward was a faithful member of 73 years of the Lower Shell Creek Christian Church. He dedicated his life to Christ and the Church. He served as an Elder for 60 years. His main objective of life was to be faithful to the Church, serving daily until the end.
He was a member of the 1941 graduating class of Cloudland High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from Tri-State Container (Inland).
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Edward Morgan and wife, Edna, Roan Mountain; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy Anne Gardner and her husband, Acie, Fayetteville, N.C.; six grandchildren, John Gardner and wife, Sitka, Abilene, Texas; Brian Gardner and wife, Suzanne, Charlotte, N.C.; Michael Gardner, Burlington, N.C.; Kristina Hinshaw and husband Hunter, Archdale, N.C.; Scott Morgan and wife, Aleta, and Brad Morgan and wife Karma, Roan Mountain; twelve great grandchildren, Adam and Anika Gardner, Abilene, Texas; Madisen Gardner, Burlington, N.C.; Brandon and Natalie Gardner, Charlotte, N.C.; Collin, Eli, Kaylin, Hannah, and Madelyn Morgan, Roan Mountain; Annabelle and Matilda Hinshaw, Archdale, N.C.; one sister, Polly Morgan Hutchins; a sister-in-law, Freddie Jo Loven, Kingsport.
The family would like to thank the staff of Roan Highlands Nursing Center and each and every employee for their love and care, also the employees of CARIS Hospice Care.
The celebration of life service for Mr. Morgan will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, at the Lower Shell Creek Christian Church with the Rev. Gerald Holly, the Rev. Clay Bailey and the Rev. David Siebenaler officiating. Music will be provided by Joel Crisp.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lower Shell Creek Christian church prior to the service.
The graveside service and interment will follow in the Cordell Cemetery, Roan Mountain with the Rev. Gerald Holly, the Rev. John McCoury, and the Rev. Chris Wilson officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, John Gardner, Brian Gardner, Michael Gardner, Hunter Hinshaw, Scott Morgan and Brad Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons, Collin Morgan, Eli Morgan, Brandon and Adam Gardner and friends, Dan Winters, Richard Winters, Lee McCoury, Scottie Johnson, Bob Ferguson, J.B. Ellis, Gary Dugger, Bill Price, Lenny Taylor, Lanny White, Phil Schull, Harvey Buck, Kenneth Shell, Danny Winters, Jackie Dugger, Roy Roberts, David Roark, Rick Sluder, Rick Shell, Eddie Odom, Mike Miller and the men of the Lower Shell Creek Christian Church.
