Eddie B. Cox, 62, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Washington County, he was the son of the late Eugene L. and Bonnie Godsey Cox.
Eddie was a graduate of Science Hill High School and was joint owner and Vice President of Gene Cox Mechanical Contractor Inc. for more than 33 years. Eddie was presently on the Building Codes Commission of Johnson City, a member of Johnson City Country Club and former board member of the Elizabethton Golf Course. He was a dedicated businessman and an avid golfer who loved golfing with his friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Phyllis Cox.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Sandra Reeves Cox; daughters, Kim Cox and Nikki Cox; son, Kevin Cox and wife Latisha; stepchildren, Christy Trivette and husband Donnie, Eve Justus and husband J.R., and Bret Jones and wife Cindy; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Babb and husband Claude, and Brenda Treadway and husband George; brothers, Gary Cox and Don Cox and wife Sherry; sister-in-law, Lynnette Poe; brother-in-law, Philip Reeves and wife Lisa; special niece, Lauren Poe; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life service for Eddie Cox will be held on Tuesday, October 29, at 7 p.m. in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, with Minister Bret Jones officiating. Music will be provided by Timothy Babb, Lauren Poe and Jerry Wilson. The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. until the service hour. A graveside and committal service will be held at Monte Vista Memorial Park on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Chris Goodman, Allen Goodman, Jacob Jones, David Royston, Coby Jones and Joey Murdock. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Nelson, Glen Shaw, Larry Thompson, Dr. Jerry Gastineau, Jerry Wilson and the employees of Gene Cox Mechanical Contractor Inc. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Washington County/Johnson City EMS members who came to the home, Dr. Rachel Monderer, Dr. Garik Misener and the entire Emergency Room Staff at Johnson City Medical Center.
