Dorothy Oliver Lyons, 84, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late George and Claudia Bowling Oliver.
Mrs. Lyons was a homemaker. She attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and was also a former Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Lyons loved to quilt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Lyons; a son, John P. Lyons; a daughter, Kim Taylor; a granddaughter, Melissa McMahan; and three brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Gladden, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Allen and Kimberly Lyons, Elizabethton; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Stout and Helen Garland, both of Elizabethton; and a special friend, Rhoda Oliver.
Graveside services for Mrs. Lyons will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
