She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Frank and Nancy Nidiffer Bowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Bowers.
Ms. Bowers was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and flowers, and loved cooking. She was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mollie Phillips, Elizabethton; a brother, Arthur Bowers, Elizabethton; four nieces, Rose Marie Carr, Sandy Matherly, Kathy Phillips and Janet Coleman; and three nephews, Jerry Wayne Coleman, Jamie Phillips and Tommy Bowers. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Ms. Bowers will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, October 22, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Sherrel Nave officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sue Bowers and Dale Williams. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, or at the home of a sister, Mollie Phillips. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012, in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery with Rev. Mack Presnell officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Those who prefer in lieu of flowers may make donations to a sister, Mollie Phillips.
