Dorothy B. Perry


Dorothy Burleson Perry, 76, Courtyard Apartments, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William D. and Carrie Elliott Burleson.
Mrs. Perry was a 1954 graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene, Elizabethton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Wade Perry, October 3, 2009; a grandson, Jason Perry; and two sisters, Helen Davis Roberts and Charlene Guess.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jana and Howard Whaley, Elizabethton; three sons, William David “Bill” Perry and wife Chris, Farmington, N.M., James Allen Perry and Johnny Lynn Perry, both of Elizabethton; two granddaughters, Nicole Perry and Sarah Elizabeth Tester; a brother, David Burleson, Elizabethton; and a special friend, Bill Bowling.
Funeral services for Mrs. Perry will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kenley Knight officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the residents of Courtyard Apartments and the staff of Amedisys Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
