Daigel Benjamin Moody, 92, Butler, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his family and friends, following an extended illness.
A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late James M. and Cora Anderson Moody.
Mr. Moody had lived his entire life in the Little Milligan Community. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and was a farmer.
Mr. Moody was a member and deacon of the Little Milligan Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 49, Elizabethton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Baker Moody, November 5, 2005; three sisters, Destamona Campbell, Delora Shaw and Dezmonda Eggers; and five brothers, Devonia, Delmas, Dallas, Dorris and Dennis Moody.
Survivors include a son, James V. Moody, Butler; two grandchildren, Michelle Crumley and her husband Jeff, Butler, and Michael Moody and his wife Sandra, Mountain City; five great-grandchildren, Dustin Crumley and his fiancée Nakia Ard, Corey Crumley and his fiancée Keesha Price, Dakota Crumley, Colton Crumley and Mikayla Moody; his great-great-grandchildren, Ryan and Gracie Crumley and Mazie and Collin Ard; several nieces and nephews; his special friends, Bobby “Buzz” White, Barbara Matheson and Jessie Bailey; and his sisters-in-law, Edith Moody, Elizabethton, Cathleen Baker and Louise Dugger, both of Mountain City.
Funeral services for Mr. Moody will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, December 28, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nick Bradshaw, the Rev. Sammy Icenhour and the Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Music will be provided by the Rev. Ronnie Campbell. Graveside services and interment will be at noon Saturday, December 29, in the Lakeview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Moody, Dustin Crumley, Corey Crumley, Dakota Crumley, Colton Crumley and Jeff Crumley. Honorary pallbearers will be Mikayla Moody and his church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Cindy Collins, Bart and Susie Smith, Dr. Claire Paris, Dr. Swheta Kharalkar, Dr. Sergio Diaz, the staff of Caris Hospice and the staff of the 3rd Floor at Sycamore Shoals Hospital for the excellent care that was received. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family anytime at the residence.
