Clara Grace Henegar, 90, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Pine Ridge Care Center, following an extended illness.
She was born in Punxsutawney, Pa., but had lived in Carter County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Dodge Teague Sr. and Clara Nelson Teague. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton “R.J.” Henegar, on March 29, 1997, and a sister, Erma Teague Arney.
Mrs. Henegar was a former employee of Bemberg and NARC. She was a member of Doe River Baptist Church and liked listening to Bluegrass Gospel Music and crocheting.
Survivors include one daughter, Penny Henegar Hughes and husband, Jerry, Elizabethton; one son, Dale Eugene Henegar and wife, Nora, Leesburg, Ga.; one granddaughter, Christie Lynn Burchette, Elizabethton; one grandson, Edward Eugene Ford, Elizabethton; one sister, Mabel Teague Grindstaff, Elizabethton; and one brother, Dodge Teague Jr., Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Henegar will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Mark Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at the home of her sister, Mabel Grindstaff, at anytime. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Active pallbearers will be Barry Gouge, Buddy Henegar, Michael Hyder, Rob Callahan, Mack Henry and others selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Ford, Jerry Hughes, Russ Becker and Luther Arrowood. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff of Pine Ridge Care Center and Caris Hospice and a very special thank you to Crystal, for all their love and care shown to Mrs. Henegar.
