Carson Puckett Sr., 87, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, Monday, October 22, 2012, at Pine Ridge Care Center.
Born in Russell County, Va., he was a son of the late Thomas Calvin and Rachel Breeding Puckett. He had lived most of his life in Carter County.
Mr. Puckett served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He worked at North American Rayon Corporation for 35 years and retired from The Sperry Corporation, Bristol. He was a member of the Lynn Valley Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon and held various other positions in the church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Taylor, and six brothers, Guy, Howard, Gilmer, Giles, Clifton and Clayton Puckett.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Louise Honeycutt Puckett; a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Roger Taylor, Elizabethton; a son, Carson Puckett Jr. and wife Marilyn, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Jennifer Persinger and husband Chris, Shane Taylor and wife Crystal and Adam Taylor and wife Teresa; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Malone, Watauga; and a brother, Clyde Puckett, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Puckett will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, at Lynn Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Wilson, the Rev. Bill Duncan and Dr. Joe Greene officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir, Teresa Range and Frank Eades. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 25, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, and also at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Adam Taylor, Shane Taylor, Chris Persinger, Logan Taylor, Austin Taylor, Dustin Taylor, Jordan Persinger, Jacob Taylor and Bailea Persinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons, his church family and especially the small children, whom he loved, of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Home Based Primary Care Providers of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, the staff of Pine Ridge Care Center, the staff of Gentiva Home Health, Dr. Robert Walter and Staff and Wilma and Ken Hayes. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lynn Valley Baptist Church. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. Condolences to the Puckett family may be e-mailed to email@example.com.
