By

Carol Ann Hyder, 66, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Hyder was born in Hollister, Calif., to the late Manuel and Treva Hellmar Vargas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Joe Hyder, in 2010, and a son-in-law, Michael Peters.
Carol Hyder was a woman who loved her family. She always had a huge amount of compassion for animals and participated in various charities to support their well-being. Carol may be gone from her physical body, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. Those who knew her best know that she is now finally at peace. Her soul has gone to a place without the heartache and strife of death and illness: a place where happiness and love rein. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will never abandon us and she will be in our hearts always.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelly Bulla and husband, David Jr., of Johnson City, and Christina Alexander and husband William “Buddy,” of Elizabethton; two sons, Alvin Jackson of Modesto, Calif., and T. Paul McConnell and wife, Connie, of Fort Worth, Texas; seven granddaughters and one grandson; and two brothers, Manuel Vargas Jr. of Orville, Calif., and Jerry Vargas of Hollister, Calif.
