Carmelita F. Johnson, 52, of Roan Mountain, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center as the results of an automobile accident.
A native of Hammond, Ind., she had lived most of her life in Carter County.
Mrs. Johnson was a 1979 graduate of Cloudland High School and a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a degree in radiography. She was an employee of the Charles H. Cannon Memorial Hospital, Linville, N.C., as an X-ray and Ultrasound Technician. She was a member of the Roan Mountain Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her father, Doc Fields.
Survivors include her husband, Jack L. Johnson; three sons, B.J. Johnson and wife Ashley Lynn, Elizabethton, Nick Johnson II and Dakota Johnson, both of the home; her mother, Christine Fields, Roan Mountain; and five brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Joy Fields, Ed and Karen Fields, Rick and Melissa Fields, Robert and Shelley Fields and Cecil and Monica Fields, all of Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services for Mrs. Johnson will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 8, in the Johnson-Roan View Cemetery, Roan Mountain, with Mr. Clarence “Bubba” Cannon, minister, officiating. Music will be provided by Charlotte Smith. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday. The family will have a time of fellowship, following the graveside service, at the Roan Mountain Church of Christ. Condolences to the Johnson family may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
