Billy M. Pierce, 70, of the Valley Forge Community of Elizabethton, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, February 24, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late William R. and Ruth Disney Pierce.
Mr. Pierce was a member and former deacon of Elizabethton Church of Christ. He loved God, his grandchildren and nature, especially the mountains. As a patient, kind and loving husband, father and brother, he will be missed.
Mr. Pierce enjoyed making Native American art and was versed in their culture. He was also a Volkswagen enthusiast.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Samuel Pierce; a brother, Kenneth Danny Pierce; and a sister, Deanna Pierce Wiseman.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Range Pierce, of the home; a daughter, Julie Pierce Miller and husband John, Gray, Tenn.; a son, Jamey Pierce and wife Anna, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Heather Miller, Johnny Miller, Dakota Pierce and Josie Pierce; a brother, Michael Edward Pierce and wife Debbie, Roan Mountain; an aunt, Elizabeth Lowe, Elizabethton; a brother-in-law, Gary Range and wife Elaine, Lexington, N.C.; and special cousins, Ann and Berdel Little and Jimmy Lowe, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service for Mr. Pierce will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, at the Elizabethton Church of Christ with Mr. Roby Ellis and Mr. Eddie Craft, ministers, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the memorial service. The family would like to express thanks to Mr. Pierce’s many special friends at the Elizabethton Church of Christ for their loving and devoted care shown to him during his illness.
