A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late William Albert Bailey and Daisy Delane Hartley Ward.
Mr. Bailey was formerly employed at Thompson Metal Services, Kingsport. His hobby was fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Kyte Bailey; a daughter, Tammany Markland and husband Chad, Watauga; a son, Travis Bailey and wife Frances, Grand Rapids, Mich.; three grandchildren, Madison Markland, Corbin Markland and June Bailey; his step-father, James Ward, Elizabethton; two sisters, Teresa Williams and Pansy Slagle and husband Joe, all of Elizabethton; two brothers, Jimmy Ward and wife Shirley and Kenneth Hartley, all of Elizabethton; and four special aunts, Carolyn Hartley, Helen Taylor, Kathy Norris and Jean Mitchell. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Bailey will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jessie Hartley officiating. Music will be provided by Shirley Ward. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 15, in the Lyons Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, will be Jimmy Ward, Chad Markland, Josh Slagle, Eric Guy, Billy Garland and Jamie Hartley. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Hartley and Jack Kyte. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of Tammy. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.
