Billy Boyd Hardin, 81, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late L.T. and Virgie Pierce Hardin.
Mr. Hardin served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired carpenter and locksmith and a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Murphy Hardin; a brother, Bobby Hardin, and two sisters, Margaret Mathes and Kathy Hardin.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Phillips, Crofton, Maryland; two grandchildren, Keith Wood and Linzi Phillips; two great grandchildren, Gavin and Dylan; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Sandra Hardin, Darrell Hardin, and Darrell Edward and Bobbie Jo Hardin, all of Elizabethton, Richard and Barbara Hardin of Piney Flats, Doug and Phyllis Hardin, Hampton, and Edward and Melanie Hardin, Clarksville, Tennessee; and a sister and brother-in-law, Linda Ann and Robert Weatherford, Surgoinsville, Tn.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Burleson officiating. Music will be provided by Tammy Cole. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion and Tennessee National Guard. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the service hour Monday.
