Agencies ask donors to step up as assistance requests grow.

With the Christmas gift-giving season upon us, local non-profit agencies will see more requests for aid from individuals and families in Carter County – and will be counting on donations to help meet those needs.

These agencies provide food or gifts during the Christmas season, clothing all winter long or help with rent and utilities.

Hale Community Ministry Director Becky Brumitt said that agency sees an increase in new clients as the holidays draw closer. Hale Community Ministry provides food and clothing to individuals in need on a regular basis, but also helps with the Angel Tree process in the holiday season.

She said it frequently happens that families or individuals realize they might need some assistance during the holidays to help meet all their needs.
