The standout athletes and the platinum country music artist headlined the annual benefit at The Virginian Monday, helping raise over $700,000 to purchase “Smart Pump” syringe pumps to benefit the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Johnson City Medical Center.

“We’re here to have some fun, but more importantly to raise money for the children’s hospital and make sure the children in our region receive the best health care possible,” said hospital benefactor Scott Niswonger.

To take the course in the select-shot event with one of the celebrities, corporations and individuals donated at least $5,000 per golfer to cover the cost of the pumps which run at the same amount. Due to a patient’s need for as many as four or five medications, multiple pumps can be placed in a patient’s room at one time.
