Local schools compete in Tri-Cities Track Classic

JOHNSON CITY — Autumn Thomas shined brightest for Elizabethton in Saturday’s Tri-Cities Track Classic.
The Lady Cyclones’ freshman crossed fourth in the 200-meter dash and seventh in the 100. Elizabethton’s girls finished ninth out of 26 teams at Kermit Tipton Stadium.
Thomas clocked a 28.17 in the 200. She ran the 100 in 13.37.
Also for the Elizabethton’s girls, Katie May placed fourth in the 300 hurdles (47.92). Tori Cruz was fourth in the shot put (32-1).
Happy Valley’s Emily Holtsclaw soared to a fifth-place showing in the girls’ pole vault at eight feet. That effort established a school record.
