Contra dance and food raiser in Jonesborough The Historic Jonesborough Dance Society will hold a contra dance on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center, 117 Boone St. Performing for the dance will be the "Chicken Tractor" from Asheville, N.C., with caller Barbara Groh. A class for beginners will be held at 7 p.m. Every dancer is encouraged to attend the class to become familiar with dance steps, formations and flow. Klondike Bars, the official frozen treat of the Historic Jonesborough Dance Society, will be served at the 9 p.m. waltz break. |

Brick sales begin for new animal shelter
Pet owners who want to memorialize their deceased pets or honor their living animal companions have the opportunity to do so with the memorial bricks that are being sold by the Elizabethton Carter County Animal Shelter building fund committee.
Commission selects Humana as insurance provider
Humana representative Stuart Everley and Connie Tate of Triten Insurance and Financial Services addressed the commission and answered questions. Some commissioners expressed concerns about losing benefits or access to certain physicians or specialists. Everley assured them that there would be no loss of services.

Credit union employee arrested
The investigation began in September, when the credit union manager reported to police that she had received information from a customer that employee Lori L. Barb had fraudulently used the customer's credit union credit card number to obtain cash advances.
