SUNDAY, AUG. 29

 

* As part of their class reunion, the Elizabethton High School Class of 1970 and their guests will meet at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elizabethton at 12:30 p.m. for a worship service. Any classmates who have not yet been contacted are urged to call Peggy at 957-4719 or Carmella Price at 543-1000.

 

* Rhea Lodge No. 47, 210 Second Ave., Jonesborough, will host a steak and gravy dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Advance tickets are $7 for adults or $8 at the door. For children 12 and under, tickets are $4.

 

* The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

 

MONDAY, AUG. 30

 

* The Fall Luncheon meeting of the GFWC of Tennessee Elizabethton Woman's Club will be held at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. This will be a covered dish luncheon. Plans for hosting the District I meeting will be discussed and finalized. All members are encouraged to attend.

 

* Take Off Pounds Sensibly, or TOPS, will meet at First Baptist Church, 212 East F St., Elizabethton, on Mondays with weighing in from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 975-6540 or 542-4476.

 

TUESDAY, AUG. 31

 

* The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

 

* Al-Anon "Free to Be Me" meeting will be held at the Watauga Association of Baptists office, across from Elizabethton Lumber, from 6 to 7 p.m.

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 1

 

* The Carter County Republican Women will meet at noon in the Winford Floyd Center of First Freewill Baptist Church, Second Street, Elizabethton. All members and any woman interested in joining are encouraged to attend.

 

* Narcotics Anonymous will have an open meeting at the Crossroads building, E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton, at 8 p.m.

 

THURSDAY, SEPT. 2

 

* "Politics in Washington and around the World: Fulfilling Extreme End Time Prophecy" will be the topic for a presentation by Al Aron at the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center at 10 a.m. An Elizabethton resident, Aron noted that end of time prophecy is being fulfilled at a very rapid pace. The center is located at 428 E. "G" Street.

 

* The Unaka High School Class of 1965 will hold a meeting to plan a class reunion at 6 p.m. at the Tennessee Technology Center on Stoney Creek. Those attending the reunion are asked to please send in your paperwork before the Aug. 31 deadline. For more information, call Terry Peters at 542-6001 or Lanny White at 474-2570.

 

* Narcotics Anonymous will have an open meeting at the Crossroads building, E. Elk Ave., Elizabethton, at 8 p.m.

 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 4

 

* The Clark Family Reunion for the descendants of William Marion and Molly McInturff Clark will be held beginning at 5 p.m. at the Southside Christian Church annex (old Southside School building), Elizabethton. A covered dish supper will be served at 6 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish, drink and family memorabilia. * The Jenkins-Simerly 35th Family Reunion will be held beginning at 11 a.m. to get reacquainted with family members. The meal will be served at noon at the Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Picnic Pavilion. Those attending are asked to bring two or more covered dishes and a dessert. Drinks, plates, napkins, cups and silverware will be furnished. Those attending are welcome to bring family history and pictures to share. TUESDAY, SEPT. 7

 

* Watauga Post No. 49 American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary will meet at the Post Home on Watauga Avenue. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Business meetings will follow. All Legionnaires and Auxiliary members are urged to attend.

 

* The Watauga Association of Genealogists will meet at the Johnson City Public Library, 100 West Millard St., at 6:30 p.m. The speaker will be a representative from the Heritage Alliance, Jonesborough. The Heritage Alliance is dedicated to the preservation of the architectural, historical and cultural heritage of our region and provides educational experiences related to our history and heritage.
